The Heliopolis Palace, located in the Heliopolis suburb northeast of Cairo, began as a grand hotel in 1910, designed by architect Ernest Jaspar in the ornate Heliopolis and Moorish Revival styles. Now one of five official Egyptian presidential palaces, it serves as a residence and office for the President of Egypt, joining Abdeen Palace, Koubbeh Palace, Montaza Palace, and Ras El Tin Palace in the country's executive holdings.
