The San Salvador El Salvador Temple, a modern structure located in Antiguo Cuscatlán, is the 135th temple built by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the first to be constructed in El Salvador. Designed by VCBO Architecture, the temple was announced by the church's First Presidency on November 18, 2007, with groundbreaking ceremonies held on September 20, 2008, conducted by Don R. Clarke. As the fourth temple built in Central America, it represents a significant expansion of the church's institutional presence in the region.
