The Veracruz Mexico Temple is a modern structure of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located in Boca del Río, Veracruz, Mexico, less than half a kilometer from the Gulf of Mexico. Announced for construction in April 1999, the 10,700-square-foot temple employs a classic modern design with an exterior of Blanco Guardiano white marble quarried from Torreón, Mexico. Designed by Alvaro Iñigo and church architectural personnel, the temple was built on a 3.37-acre site that includes a meetinghouse. Construction began with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 29, 1999, and the temple was dedicated on July 9, 2000, by Thomas S. Monson in four sessions attended by 5,171 church members. It stands as the church's 93rd operating temple.
