The Monterrey Mexico Temple, located in Valle Alto in the southeastern section of Monterrey, Nuevo León, is a modern white marble structure designed by Alvaro Inigo and completed in 2002. Built on an 8.2-acre property shared with a stake center near Cerro de la Silla and the National Highway, the temple features a single spire and serves as the twelfth such building in Mexico and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' 110th operating temple worldwide. The project's path to completion was protracted; announced in December 1995, construction was delayed by opposition from neighboring property owners, necessitating a relocation nearly five years later. Following a groundbreaking in November 2000, the temple was dedicated on April 28, 2002, by church president Gordon B. Hinckley in four sessions attended by 12,617 members.
