The Porto Alegre Brazil Temple, a modern house of worship of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, stands on a 2-acre hillside site in the Vila Jardim neighborhood of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. Designed by André Belo de Faria with a distinctive single spire crowned by a statue of the angel Moroni, the temple is clad in cotton-white granite quarried from Ceará, Brazil. Announced in 1997 and dedicated on December 17, 2000, it became the church's 102nd operating temple and the third constructed in Brazil. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in May 1998, and the subsequent public open house drew over 25,000 visitors. Since its completion, the complex has been expanded with a four-story patron housing facility (2013) and parking improvements (2019) to accommodate members from surrounding regions.
