The Tucson Arizona Temple is a Latter-day Saint temple located in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Arizona. Announced by church president Thomas S. Monson in October 2012, the temple represents the sixth such structure in the state, following those in Mesa, Snowflake, Gila Valley, Gilbert, and Phoenix. Designed by FFKR Architects in Art Deco style, the 38,216-square-foot building sits on a 7.4-acre site and is crowned with a dome topped by a statue of the angel Moroni. Construction began following a groundbreaking ceremony on October 17, 2015, presided over by Dieter F. Uchtdorf, a member of the church's First Presidency.
