Located in Sarvestan County, some 90 kilometers southeast of Shiraz, the Sassanid Palace of Sarvestan is a seventh-century AD structure of considerable archaeological significance. Built during the Sassanid era, the palace served either as a gubernatorial residence or a Zoroastrian fire temple—its exact function remains debated among scholars. The structure ranks among the most important sites in Sassanid archaeology and is designated as one of eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites within the Sassanid Archaeological Landscape of Fars Region, underscoring its importance to Iran's cultural heritage.
