Sharswood Plantation, a historic house in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, near Mount Airy, exemplifies the Carpenter Gothic style through its design by renowned New York architect Alexander Jackson Davis. Built as the centerpiece of a 2,000-acre tobacco plantation owned by Charles Edwin Miller and Nathaniel Crenshaw Miller before the Civil War, the Gothic Revival structure remained in the Miller family until 1917, when the Thompson family acquired it. In 2020, the estate was purchased by Frederick Miller, a descendant of enslaved people who had labored at Sharswood.
