Completed in 1950 after a lengthy construction period, the Sioux City Municipal Auditorium in Iowa is a Streamline Moderne structure designed by architect Knute E. Westerlind in 1938. Originally conceived as an arena seating 3,500 people, it was the fifth major indoor venue built in the city. Following the 2003 construction of the Tyson Events Center around its northeast corner, the auditorium was repurposed as a recreation facility while its distinctive exterior was preserved. Now known officially as the Long Lines Family Recreation Center—or Long Lines Auditorium—the building remains listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
