Slettnes Lighthouse, located in Gamvik Municipality on Norway's Nordkinn Peninsula, is the northernmost mainland lighthouse on Earth. Built in 1905 and designed by Herman Munthe-Kaas and Gudolf Blakstad, this distinctive 39-metre cast iron structure sits on the Barents Sea coast approximately 3 kilometres north of Gamvik village. As the only cast iron lighthouse in Finnmark county, it stands as the easternmost of three lighthouses marking the Nordkapp area and is often regarded as the North Cape Light, symbolically marking Europe's northernmost point. Though Fruholmen Lighthouse extends slightly farther north on the island of Ingøya, Slettnes holds the distinction of being Scandinavia's northernmost mainland lighthouse. Today it is recognized as a cultural heritage site under Norwegian preservation law and sits within the Slettnes Nature Reserve.
