Ryvingen Lighthouse is Norway's southernmost lighthouse, standing on the small island of Låven in the North Sea about 5 kilometres southeast of Mandal in Lindesnes Municipality. First lit in 1867, this cylindrical cast iron structure rises 22.5 metres and is painted red with a distinctive white horizontal stripe; its light, positioned 52 metres above sea level, emits four white flashes every 40 seconds and transmits a racon signal in Morse code. The lighthouse was automated in 2002 and simultaneously transferred to the town of Mandal, which has since restored the adjoining 1½-storey crew quarters building for overnight accommodation. Now a protected historical site, the lighthouse marks the east side of the fjord leading to Mandal, complementing the Hatholmen Lighthouse on the opposite shore. The island is accessible only by boat.
