Spoilbank Cemetery is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission burial ground established in 1915 in the Ypres Salient on Belgium's Western Front, designed by William Harrison Cowlishaw and Edwin Lutyens. The grounds were granted to the United Kingdom in perpetuity by the King of Belgium in recognition of British sacrifices in defending and liberating Belgium during the First World War. Now a protected monument, the cemetery stands as a permanent memorial to the war dead within one of the conflict's most contested regions.
