Spring Hill Cemetery Historic District in Charleston, West Virginia, is a 172-acre historic cemetery complex established in 1869 and comprising five separate burial grounds: Spring Hill Cemetery, Mountain View Cemetery, B'nai Israel Cemetery, Lowenstein Cemetery, and Mount Olivet Cemetery. The largest cemetery complex in West Virginia, the district occupies a series of tree-shaded, landscaped hills overlooking central Charleston. Its most distinctive structure is the Spring Hill Mausoleum, a stone-faced reinforced concrete building constructed in 1910. The district contains the graves of numerous prominent West Virginians, including three state governors and several members of Congress. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, it represents a significant repository of the state's political and civic history.
