St Ermin's Hotel is a Grade II-listed late Victorian building in the City of Westminster, designed by architect Edwin Thomas Hall and completed in 1899. Originally built as one of London's early mansion blocks in the Art Nouveau style, the structure was converted from residential use into a hotel between 1896 and 1899. Located adjacent to St James's Park Underground station and within sight of Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and the Houses of Parliament, the hotel is thought to take its name from an ancient monastery believed to have occupied the site before the tenth century. From the 1930s onward, St Ermin's became a significant hub for British intelligence operations, most notably serving as the birthplace of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and functioning as a liaison point for Soviet-aligned Cambridge Five double agents. The hotel is now managed as part of Marriott Hotels' Autograph Collection.
