Built between 1903 and 1907 in the Neo-Byzantine style, the St George the Conqueror Chapel Mausoleum stands on Vazrazhdane Square in Pleven, Bulgaria, as a memorial to Russian and Romanian soldiers who died during the Siege of Plevna in 1877. Designed by architect Pencho Koychev, whose entry won a design contest in 1903, the chapel functions as both an Orthodox sanctuary and ossuary, housing the remains of many fallen soldiers. The interior features icons created by Bulgarian artists, while the structure itself is dedicated to Saint George, the patron saint of soldiers and a figure central to Pleven's heraldry, making it a major landmark of the city.
