The Stadttheater Düren was an Art Nouveau theatre built between 1905 and 1907 in Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, designed by Carl Moritz, architect of Cologne's opera house. Constructed on what became the Hoeschplatz with funding from businessman Eberhard Hoesch's substantial donation of 500,000 Marks, the building opened on 17 January 1907 after just fourteen months of construction, replacing makeshift performances at local inns. The Jugendstil-style theatre seated 700 and, though lacking a permanent ensemble, hosted notable visiting performers including actors Willy Birgel and Asta Nielsen, pianist Elly Ney, and conductor Herbert von Karajan. The building was destroyed by bombing on 16 November 1944, leaving only its basement and facade; the ruins were demolished in 1952, with salvaged stones repurposed for cemetery walls.
