The Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan is Tashkent's largest national art museum, established in 1918 as a Museum of People University before receiving its current name in 1935. The permanent collection encompasses several thousand works distributed across four curatorial departments, surveying the breadth of Uzbek artistic heritage. The museum has occupied successive iterations of its institutional identity, reflecting the cultural priorities of early Soviet Central Asia.
