Stavronikita Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox monastery dedicated to Saint Nicholas, located on the monastic state of Mount Athos in Greece. Built atop a rock near the sea on the eastern shore of the Athonite Peninsula between the monasteries of Iviron and Pantokratoros, the site was first occupied by Athonite monks as early as the 10th century, though the monastery was not officially consecrated until 1536, making it the last to receive such status among the Athonite communities. Its Byzantine architecture reflects the monastic traditions of Mount Athos, and it currently maintains a small community of 30 to 40 monks while ranking fifteenth in the hierarchy of Athonite monasteries.
