Built in 1925 in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Studebaker Building is a Tudor Revival structure that embodies the speculative fervor of the Florida Land Boom. Erected as a showroom for the Peninsular Motor Company—the fourth largest Studebaker dealer in the world at the time—the building housed 56 employees and reflected the era's optimistic marriage of automotive commerce and real estate expansion. The company's rapid collapse in 1926, as the boom itself imploded, left the building shuttered and transformed it into an unintended monument to the decade's economic volatility. Today it serves as home to the USGS St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
