Sunshine 60 is a 60-story, 239.7-meter mixed-use skyscraper completed in 1978 in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, designed by Mitsubishi Estate in the International Style and constructed of reinforced concrete. Upon completion, it was the tallest building in Asia, holding that distinction until 1985 when surpassed by Seoul's 63 Building. It remained the tallest in Tokyo and Japan until the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building was completed in 1991. The tower was notable for housing the world's fastest elevators at 600 metres per minute when it opened, a record it held until the Yokohama Landmark Tower opened in 1993; both elevator systems were installed by Mitsubishi Electric, and both buildings are owned by Mitsubishi Estate. Sunshine 60 adjoins the Sunshine City complex.
