A 40-story commercial skyscraper completed in 1970 in Hamamatsuchō, Minato, Tokyo, designed by Nikken Sekkei, the World Trade Center Building was among Japan's earliest high-rises. At 163 meters tall, it briefly held the distinction of Japan's tallest building upon completion, before being surpassed one year later. Home to the World Trade Center Tokyo, a member of the World Trade Centers Association, the structure housed offices, retail, and restaurants, with a visitor observatory occupying its top floor. The building benefited from direct access to transit infrastructure, connected to Daimon Station and Hamamatsuchō Station via the Toei Subways, JR East lines, and the Tokyo Monorail. The building was demolished in 2021.
