The Teatro Regio is a prominent opera house in Turin, Italy, with roots tracing to early-18th-century ambitions to establish a proper theatrical venue for the city. Planning began under architect Filippo Juvarra in 1713, but construction did not commence until 1738 under Charles Emmanuel III, after Juvarra's death. The theatre was completed and decorated by Bernardino Galliari, with work supervised by Benedetto Alfieri. The building is notable as the site of Puccini's 1896 premiere of *La Bohème*. Today, it remains an active opera company, presenting eight or nine operas annually from October to June, each given between five and twelve performances.
