Teatro Giuseppe Verdi is a small neoclassical opera house located within the Rocca dei Marchesi Pallavicino on the Piazza Giuseppe Verdi in Busseto, Italy, designed by Pier Luigi Montecchini and opened on 15 August 1868. Seating 300 patrons, the theatre occupies an upper level of what is now the city hall, accessed by a grand staircase. Its interior follows the traditional horseshoe plan with three rows of boxes and an ornately designed ceiling featuring four medallions symbolizing comedy, tragedy, melodrama, and romantic drama. A bust of Verdi by Giovanni Dupré stands outside. Though the composer paradoxically opposed the theatre's construction as needlessly expensive and contributed 10,000 lire toward it while maintaining his own box, he reportedly never attended a performance despite living just two miles away. The inaugural programme in 1868 presented *Rigoletto* and *Un ballo in maschera*, performed before an audience dressed entirely in green. The theatre underwent extensive renovation in the 1990s and continues to present regular opera seasons.
