Telekom Tower stands 310 meters tall in Lembah Pantai, western Kuala Lumpur, as a 55-storey postmodern supertall skyscraper completed in 2001. Designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates and constructed by Daewoo Construction between 1998 and 2001, the tower is regarded as the world's first twisted skyscraper and ranks as the world's fourth-tallest twisted building and Malaysia's fifth-tallest. Its distinctive form, meant to evoke a sprouting bamboo shoot, features 22 open sky gardens alternating every three floors and a series of climbing hanging gardens. The structure, which cost over $160 million, was built with environmental consciousness in mind, employing strategic window placement, orientation, and air-conditioning systems to promote energy efficiency. Originally headquarters to Malaysian telecommunications company Telekom Malaysia until 2023, the complex encompasses a 2,500-capacity theatre, a large prayer hall (surau), and sports facilities, with office floors divided into north and south wings served by express double-deck elevators. Officially opened on 11 February 2003 by the fourth Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the tower stands near Kerinchi Pylon, Southeast Asia's tallest electricity pylon.
