Completed in 1997 and designed by Hijjas Kasturi Associates, Alor Setar Tower is a 165.5-metre telecommunications structure in Alor Setar, Kedah, that ranks as the third tallest tower in Malaysia and the tallest in both its state and city. Beyond its primary function transmitting signals, the tower serves as a prominent tourist destination, housing restaurants and a souvenir shop within its frame. The structure holds particular significance as an observatory for Islamic lunar sightings, used to determine the beginning of Ramadan, Shawwal, and Zulhijjah and to mark the celebrations of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha. Visitors can access an observation deck at 88 metres and an open skydeck at 105 metres above ground level.
