Designed by César Pelli and Adamson Associates and completed in 1993, the Petronas Towers are an interlinked pair of 88-storey postmodern skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, standing 451.9 metres tall. These supertall twin towers held the distinction of being the world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004, when they were surpassed by Taipei 101. They remain the world's tallest twin skyscrapers, exceeding the original World Trade Center towers in New York City, and served as Malaysia's tallest buildings until 2019. A major landmark of Kuala Lumpur, the towers are visible across much of the city and stand near other notable structures including the Kuala Lumpur Tower and Merdeka 118.
