Rising 240 metres above Manama, the Bahrain World Trade Center is a 50-floor twin-tower complex completed in 2008 by the architectural firm Atkins. A pioneering achievement in sustainable design, it holds the distinction of being the world's first skyscraper to integrate wind turbines into its structure; the turbines were developed and installed by Danish firm Norwin A/S. Positioned near King Faisal Highway alongside other major landmarks including the Bahrain Financial Harbour towers, it ranks as Bahrain's second-tallest building. The project earned recognition for its environmental innovation, receiving the 2006 LEAF Award for Best Use of Technology within a Large Scheme and the Arab Construction World for Sustainable Design Award.
