Frank Lloyd Wright's Thomas P. Hardy House, completed in 1905 in Racine, Wisconsin, exemplifies the Prairie School aesthetic in residential form. Built of stucco, the home presents a deliberately opaque street facade that shields its inhabitants from public view, while expansive windows on the opposite elevation capitalize on the property's proximity to Lake Michigan, creating an intimate connection between interior living spaces and the water landscape. The house is recognized on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places.
