The Tomb of Hafez, situated in the Musalla Gardens on the northern edge of Shiraz, Iran, commemorates the celebrated Persian poet Hafez with two open pavilion structures housing his marble tomb. Built in 1935 and designed by French architect and archaeologist André Godard, the buildings exemplify Pahlavi architecture and stand on a site of earlier memorials, the most notable dating to 1773. Located on the north bank of a seasonal river, the tomb and its gardens have become a focal point of tourism and cultural pilgrimage in Shiraz, surrounded by memorials to other figures of historical significance.
