Torreya State Park, a 13,735-acre Florida state park established in 1935, sprawls across northwestern Florida's Panhandle along the Apalachicola River, thirteen miles north of Bristol. Named for the Florida Nutmeg tree (Torreya taxifolia), a rare species endemic to the river's limestone bluffs, the park was developed in the National Park Service rustic architectural style. Today it serves as both a historic site and a United States National Natural Landmark, recognized for its ecological and historical significance.
