The Triumphal Arch of Orange, located in the town of Orange in southeast France, is a limestone structure built during the reign of Emperor Augustus (27 BC–AD 14) to honor veterans of the Gallic Wars and Legio II Augusta. The arch was subsequently reconstructed under Emperor Tiberius around AD 20–27 to commemorate the victories of the general Germanicus against Germanic tribes in the Rhineland, with an inscription dedicating it to Tiberius added in AD 27. Classified as a historical monument and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1981 alongside the Roman Theatre of Orange, the arch represents a remarkable example of ancient Roman architecture and stands as testimony to its exceptional state of preservation.
