Umeå Town Hall in Umeå, Sweden, was designed by Stockholm architect Fredrik Olaus Lindström and completed in 1890, rising from the devastation of the catastrophic fire that destroyed the city in 1888. Built on the site of a seventeenth-century predecessor, the Renaissance Revival structure was strategically positioned by Lindström in the new urban development plan with its main façade facing south toward the Ume River harbour, then still navigable and the city's vital point of entry. The building stands as an individually listed architectural ensemble.
