Built in 1918, the Willows Main Post Office in California exemplifies the Italianate and Beaux-Arts styles favored for federal postal buildings in the early twentieth century. Designed by San Francisco architects Walter D. Bliss and William B. Faville, the structure features an arched arcade entrance with Doric columns derived from Italianate precedent, complemented by ornamental terra cotta reliefs, quoining, and decorative keystones in the Beaux-Arts manner. Rare among California's post offices of its era for such elaborate ornamentation, it stands as one of Willows's most sophisticated and imposing buildings. The post office was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
