Built in 1937–1938 in Painted Post, New York, this Colonial Revival post office was designed by Louis A. Simon of the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department. The one-story, three-bay structure is clad in red brick and exemplifies the restrained civic architecture of New Deal-era federal buildings. Its interior is distinguished by a 1939 mural titled "Recording the Victory" by artist Amy Jones, depicting a Revolutionary War scene—one of many such murals commissioned for post offices during this period. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
