The Valentine Theatre, a Tudor Revival structure in downtown Toledo, Ohio, sits at the corner of Superior and Adams Streets and seats 901 patrons. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, the 130-year-old building has served as both a cinema and cultural venue. A major renovation by architect Charles H. Stark, begun in 1978 and completed in 1999, comprehensively restored the facility. Between 1925 and approximately 1928, the Toledo Society for the Blind (now the Sight Center of Northwest Ohio) occupied space in the theater, where they established a dancing class and received donations of a piano and victrola. The building sustained significant damage from a basement natural gas explosion in November 2007 but reopened in April 2008 following $3.5 million in repairs.
