The Wieting Theater in Toledo, Iowa, is a two-story Colonial Revival brick structure completed in 1912 as one of three opera houses erected by Ella W. Wieting in memory of her husband, C.W. Wieting, a dentist and businessman. Measuring 50 by 100 feet, the building features a distinctive facade with a brick parapet, columned porch, and Palladian window. The interior comprises an auditorium, balcony, stage, dressing rooms, and orchestra pit, accommodating a varied program of traveling road shows, school productions, political meetings, films, and lyceum courses. After closing in 1958, the theater reopened two years later under the Wieting Theatre Guild and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
