The Vallejo Home, built in 1852 in Sonoma, California, is a Victorian Gothic Revival residence that served as the primary dwelling of General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, a prominent Californio military leader and landowner, until his death in 1890. Vallejo acquired the land following his attendance at California's constitutional convention in Monterey in 1849, and christened the estate Lachryma Montis—a Latin rendering of the Native American name Chiucuyem (crying mountain)—after the natural spring that flowed on the property. The house is now part of the Sonoma State Historic Park and is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and as a California Historical Landmark.
