The Palace of Venice in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district is a Palladian-style palace constructed in 1695 that served as the diplomatic seat of the Venetian Republic until its fall, then successively housed the embassies of France, Austria, and Italy through 1923. After the abolition of the Ottoman Sultanate and Italy's relocation of its embassy to Ankara, the building became the Italian Consulate-General and ambassador's residence. The structure underwent significant alterations due to fire and deterioration, with most of the current edifice dating from reconstruction in the 1910s. The expansive grounds also contain the Liceo Italiano di Istanbul, an Italian school originally founded by Austria-Hungary in the 1880s.
