Villa Zorayda, a Moorish Revival mansion at 83 King Street in St. Augustine, Florida, was built in 1883 by Boston millionaire Franklin W. Smith as his winter residence. Inspired by the 12th-century Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, the eccentric structure takes its name from one of the princesses in Washington Irving's *Tales of the Alhambra*. Smith's original art and antique collection traveled with the house when it was sold to Abraham Mussallem, a Syrian-born rug and antiquities merchant, in 1913. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993 and continues to operate as a museum under the Mussallem family's stewardship, preserving both the distinctive architecture and the assembled collections that have defined it for over a century.
