Located in Clarinda, Iowa, the W.T.S. White House and Carriage House are Colonial Revival structures completed in 1906 for W.T.S. White, a wealthy businessman who made his fortune as president of the Clarinda Poultry Butter and Egg Company. Designed by local architect William W. Welch, the 2½-story frame house features Tuscan columns on its front porch, a dentil cornice, and distinctive diamond lights in the second-floor windows. The accompanying two-story carriage house, measuring 25 by 30 feet, originally housed a horse and buggy but was later converted into an automobile garage. White relocated to Chicago the following year and sold the property to A.U. and Agnes Hunt for $8,000. Both structures were recognized on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
