Completed in 1958 near Warm Mineral Springs, Florida, this motel was designed by Victor Lundy, a prominent member of the Sarasota School of Architecture. The building is instantly recognizable for its distinctive mushroom or champagne glass roof—formed by precast concrete hyperbolic paraboloids arranged in a U-shaped plan—and expansive glass walls that allow guests views of the night sky. Lundy intended the organic, flowing form to evoke both the Fountain of Youth and the shape of a growing tree, a concept he articulated in a contemporary professional journal. The innovative design earned the motel a 1958 Special Awards citation from the American Institute of Architects. The original 1958 reception desk remains in place, while a pool area was added in 1990. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
