Ridgedale, a Greek Revival plantation house and farm erected in 1835, overlooks the South Branch Potomac River north of Romney, West Virginia. Built as the residence of gentleman farmer George William Washington—a descendant of George Washington's great-great-grandfather, Reverend Lawrence Washington—the property sits on a plateau accessible via Washington Bottom Road. Known also as Washington Bottom Farm, the site remains a private residence and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
