Watertown Stadium in Watertown, South Dakota, is an Art Deco reinforced concrete structure designed by Perkins & McWayne and completed in 1940 as Works Progress Administration Project 4265. Originally conceived as a band shelter before being modified into an athletic facility, the stadium has a capacity of 5,000 and served as home to minor-league baseball teams, including the Watertown Expos of the Northern League around 1970, as well as local high school baseball and football. Built during the Depression era as a testament to federal relief efforts, it remains an outstanding example of W.P.A. construction in northeastern South Dakota and retains its original dedication plaque. The stadium was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 and underwent expansion in 2005 with the addition of an ancillary building housing restrooms, concessions, and locker rooms.
