The Welch Regiment War Memorial, also known as the Maindy Monument, stands at Maindy Barracks in Cardiff's Cathays area. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and unveiled in 1924, the memorial commemorates soldiers of the Welch Regiment who fell in the First World War. Following Lutyens's celebrated design for the Cenotaph on Whitehall in London, the monument exemplifies the architectural language that defined British war remembrance in the interwar period. Today it holds Grade II listed status.
