Wesley's Chapel, a Georgian church in the south London Borough of Islington, stands as the spiritual heart of Methodism. Designed by architect George Dance the Younger and opened in 1778 under the direction of John Wesley, the movement's founder, the building has earned the title "The Mother Church of World Methodism." The chapel functions both as an active place of worship and a visitor attraction, housing the Museum of Methodism in its crypt and John Wesley's House adjacent to the structure. Today it remains a Grade I listed building and an important circuit of the London District of the Methodist Church.
