Designed by George Gilbert Scott and completed in 1861, the Westminster Scholars War Memorial stands on a triangular plot outside Westminster Abbey's west entrance in London. Constructed of Portland limestone and granite in High Victorian Gothic style, the monument commemorates nineteen former pupils of Westminster School who died in the Crimean War (1854–1856) and the Indian Mutiny (1857–1858)—ten in the former conflict and nine in the latter. Scott, who served as Surveyor of the Fabric of Westminster Abbey from 1849 to 1878, positioned the memorial near the junction of Broad Sanctuary, Victoria Street, and The Sanctuary. The building received Grade II listed status in 1958.
