Whitneyville Congregational Church stands on Main Street in Whitneyville, Maine, an unusually sophisticated example of Italianate architecture for its remote rural location. Constructed between 1869 and 1876, the building represents an ambitious investment in high-style design during the post–Civil War era. Its presence on the National Register of Historic Places, where it was listed in 1979, acknowledges both its architectural distinction and its significance to the community's heritage.
