The Willis Tower, long known as the Sears Tower, is a skyscraper in Chicago's Loop, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with Bruce Graham and Fazlur Rahman Khan and opened in 1973. Its nine square tubes, clustered in a 3×3 matrix with seven set back at upper floors, give it a distinctive profile, and its facade is anodized aluminum and black glass. For nearly 25 years it was the world's tallest building.
