Wingspread, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built between 1938 and 1939 in Wind Point, Wisconsin, stands as one of the architect's largest residences at 14,000 square feet. Commissioned by Herbert Fisk Johnson Jr., president of S.C. Johnson, the brick structure with stucco and sandstone courses exemplifies Wright's Prairie School style—he himself identified it as the last of his Prairie houses. The building's distinctive plan radiates four wings from a central hub, with a domed living room at its core featuring clerestory windows and an elliptical chimney. Wings accommodate master bedrooms, children's rooms, service areas, and guest quarters, mostly one story except for a mezzanined master bedroom wing. Since 1960, when the Johnson family donated the property to the Johnson Foundation, Wingspread has served as an international educational conference center open to public tours, hosting over 100 conferences annually by the 1980s. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark.
