The Eugene A. Gilmore House, a stucco-clad Prairie School residence completed in 1908 in Madison, Wisconsin, ranks among Frank Lloyd Wright's mature achievements in the style. Built for Eugene Allen Gilmore, a law professor at the nearby University of Wisconsin Law School, the house earned the colloquial name "Airplane" House for its distinctive form. Recognized as a Madison Landmark and listed in both the Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places (1973), it remains a superb expression of Wright's Prairie aesthetic principles.
